Phil is an expert in global and European enterprise networking strategy and implementation. Specifically, he advises enterprise clients on the selection and use of telecom and network equipment and services. This includes negotiating, implementing and managing commercial and service-level agreements for wide area network managed services and ICT outsourcing, IP telephony, unified communications and collaboration, and enterprise mobility application
Phil is regularly invited to be the keynote speaker or session chairman at international conferences focusing on enterprise use of telecoms. He is frequently quoted in the technical and business press, including the Financial Times, and he wrote a monthly column for Communications News.
Before joining Forrester, Phil ran his own telecoms consultancy business, advising service providers selling into enterprises. He held a number of roles at Reuters, including eight years as global head of telecoms, managing director of two subsidiaries selling telecoms products and services, and technical consultant in mergers and acquisitions.
Prior to Reuters, he worked at BT, where he was head of technology assessment and led a group in voice switching research and development.
Phil is a director, past-chairman and a Fellow of the UK Communications Management Association. He is also a Fellow of the British Computer Society.
He has an MA in engineering and electrical sciences from Cambridge University, an MSc in computer science from the University of Essex, and a postgraduate diploma in management studies.
